Insulation Experiment

One of the boys had been heating the cymbals up on the OHP. He noticed that the metal on the cymbals was different colors. He wondered if it was because of the heat.

 He decided to put the blue tape over the cymbals to see what would happen.

 Scientific thinking in action.

 Other children are around to see what happens as he experiments with the heat from the OHP.

Yarn Trap

The yarn was used to make a trap.  It was tied to a picture frame and a basket. Each was positioned on shelves across from one another.  The children had to go "under" the trap to get to the carpet for whole class time. There was a lot of sharing of ideas, problem solving, and use of the positional language "over" and "under" and "around".
